Play Therapy

For Every Stage Of Life

Play therapy offers a safe, creative space for individuals to explore emotions, build resilience, and grow. Through the natural language of play, clients of all ages can better understand themselves, develop healthy coping skills, connection and move forward with confidence.

Why Play Therapy?

Play therapy helps children express thoughts and emotions that they may not yet have the words to describe. Through play, children can process stress, trauma, and behavioral challenges in a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based way. Play allows for a place with no expectations or rules to utilize creative problem solving and bottom up thinking to pave the ways for narratives of success and resilience.

Who is Play Therapy for?

Play therapy is good for everyone and yet play therapy is generally for children, typically ages 3 to 12, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, or developmental difficulties. It can be helpful for concerns such as anxiety, grief, trauma, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, and family transitions. It’s a way to try situations and circumstances on for size without the fear of reality. A way to prepare and practice.

How does child centered play therapy work?

In child-centered play therapy, the therapist provides a safe, structured environment where the child leads the play. The therapist uses specific skills such as facilitating, reflection, tracking, and limit-setting to help the child build self- awareness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, problem-solving abilities, and a stronger sense of self.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy + Play Therapy?

PCIT combined with play therapy strengthens the parent–child relationship while addressing behavior concerns. Parents are coached in real time to use effective, play-based interaction skills that improve communication, increase positive behaviors through attunement, connection and limit setting, all while reducing challenging behaviors at home and in daily life.
